Nuggets, the great equalizer, have bridged the gap between plant-based analogues and conventional meat. A new study from Nectar, the research arm of the alt-protein nonprofit Food System Innovations, found that plant-based nuggets defeated chicken in the world’s largest blind taste test with omnivores.

“It wasn’t just one brand that outperformed. Multiple brands overperformed on taste, which is really exciting,” says Caroline Cotto, director of Nectar. (The panel of 1,150 American omnivores liked nuggets from Impossible Foods, MorningStar Farms, Quorn, Rebellyous Foods and Simulate the best.)
